A Certified Athletic Therapist assesses injuries and conditions, uses contemporary rehabilitative techniques, therapeutic modalities, soft tissue mobilization, physical reconditioning, and supportive strapping procedures to promote an environment conducive to optimal healing in preparing the individual for safe reintegration into an active lifestyle.
The provision of on field immediate care of athletic injuries by a Certified Athletic Therapist includes: injury assessment, basic emergency life support, recognition and management of acute traumatic neurological dysfunction, provision of first aid, preparation for entrance into appropriate health care delivery systems, or, where appropriate, utilization of techniques facilitating a safe return to participation.
Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals with a significant role in health promotion and treatment of injury and disease. They combine their in-depth knowledge of the body and how it works with specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat symptoms of illness, injury, or disability. Through individualized treatments, physiotherapists can help you regain and maintain your mobility, and manage your condition independently.
LEVEL 2 CERTIFIED
NeuroKinetic Therapy® corrective movement system is a sophisticated bodywork modality that can be used as both an assessment and rehabilitative technique for low back pain, neck pain, carpal tunnel, and other injuries.
The NeuroKinetic Therapy™ corrective movement system protocol employing a system of precise muscle tests has the ability to change the programming of the Motor Control Center (MCC) in the cerebellum. The MCC coordinates all movement patterns in the body. It learns through failure.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM) is an advanced form of soft tisse mobilisation. It uses specifically designed instruments to locate and manipulate soft tissue. IASTM instruments make it easier to detect and treat fascial dysfunction. They magnify the abnormalities (scars, restrictions and adhesions) in the fascia and make it easier to locate the area to treat.
The goal is to 'activate the histamine response and increase local inflammation', 'break down scar tissue (type III collagen) and realign fibres', and 'promote collagen synthesis by increasing fibroblasts proliferation'.
Kinesiotaping gives support and stability to your joints and muscles without affecting circulation and range of motion. It is also used for Preventive Maintenance, Edema, and to treat pain. Kinesiotaping is a technique based on the body’s own natural healing process. This Kinesiotaping exhibits its efficacy through the activation of neurological and circulatory systems.
The Kinesiotaping method is applied over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused tired muscles, and to support muscles in movement on a 24hr/day basis. It is non-restrictive type of taping which allows for full range of motion.
FMS / SFMA
Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) are used to determine the greatest area of movement deficiency, demonstrate limitation or asymmetries, and eventually correlate these with an outcome.
