Shockwave therapy is a highly-effective treatment method that uses high-energy acoustic waves. It is one of the most advanced non-invasive treatment methods cleared by the FDA and Health Canada. Total Rehabilitation and Sports Injuries Clinic – Corydon is proud to be the first-ever clinic to begin offering shockwave treatment to residents of Winnipeg in 2012. Our Winnipeg therapists have extensive knowledge and experience that allows them to treat a variety of disorders using shockwave therapy, both effectively and safely.

What Does Shockwave Therapy Do?

Shockwave therapy transmits an acoustic wave, which carries high-energy to soft tissues with acute or chronic conditions. The high-energy acoustic wave promotes accelerated tissue repair, cell growth and regeneration and reparative process of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues. Simultaneously, it also promotes pain relief (analgesia) and mobility restoration. Beneficial effects are often experienced after only 1 or 2 treatments and, being that it is non-invasive, there is no downtime.

What Are The Benefits of Shockwave Therapy?

The two main benefits of shockwave therapy are fast pain relief and mobility restoration. Shockwave therapy is a non-surgical therapy that also reduces or eliminates the need for painkillers, making it the ideal therapeutic device to speed up recovery of acute or chronic conditions.

Shockwave therapy also promotes various positive chain reactions to the targeted soft tissues, including new blood vessel formation, reversal of chronic inflammation, stimulation of collagen production, breakdown of calcified fibroblasts, dispersion of pain mediators and release of trigger points.
